Abarth is celebrating its 50year Anniversary of the 595 with a brand New Special Edition Fiat 500. The 595 was considered one of the best Hot Hatch at the time and help put Fiat on the map. The original 595 was first presented i September at 1963 Turin Motor Show and this year at the 2013 IAA Frankfurt Auto Show, Abarth will be presenting the 50year 595 Anniversary Special Edition of the Fiat 500 which Abarth is considering to be the most powerful 595 to date, the 595 is being presented with a 1.4 T-Jet Engine combine with the Abrath Competizione gear box; that produce a grand total of 180 HP (Horsepower). Along with special styling, technology, it is also fitted 305-millimeter Brembo brake discs, and 17-inch wheels. As well as a special historic logo to go along with the hot ride. Abrath is only producing a grand total of only 299 units and will be available from September 15, which is exactly 50 years after the first presentation of the 595!
Here is a little history lesson from Fiat on the Abarth 595
In the 1960s the 595 proved an immediate success thanks to its extraordinary performance, unusual for such a small car, and became the brand’s ‘icon’. A history of records broken, victories and passionate people who have bolstered the legend of a car that represents the essence of the brand, expressed in four values: ‘size’ (it is the smallest supercar), ‘shape’ (Abarth is the 595 and the 595 is Abarth: all the Abarths in the collective imagination are white with a red band, like the 595), ‘speed’ (it is a racing car boasting record-breaking performance) and ‘spirit’ (it is not vintage, but rather contemporary history).
The presentation of the Special Edition also becomes an opportunity to celebrate the brand. The 595 ’50th Anniversary’ is the car that opens up a new era for the Abarth brand. After 1949, the year it was founded, and 2007, the year it was revived, the two-year period of 2013-2014 presents itself as a decisive step for the Abarth brand that precisely with this car once again demonstrates its outstanding ability to look to the future without betraying its past. So new horizons are opening up for the Abarth brand that from the very beginning showed itself to its public as a brand able to renew itself constantly, accepting and overcoming challenges often considered impossible.
The 50year Anniversary Special Edition is one little sexy ride. The styling of the Fiat 500 has always been something I could appreciate and will continue to appreciate with the addition of this vehicle even if its only 299 unites being produce! The scorpion will continue to live on in the Italian brand for another 50 years i hope, we also hope to get this car in the shop to give it a serious review and track testing!
