Indigo Airlines Signs MoU For 250 Airbus A320neo
NEW YORK | Airbus won a large order today from India largest commercial airline by market shares; Indigo Airlines. IndiGo along with its Co-Founders, Rakesh Gangwal and Rahul Bhatia, Group Managing Director of InterGlobe, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 250 firm A320neo Family aircraft thats worth more than 24 Million Dollars. The agreement will become Airbus’ single largest order by number of aircraft ordered at once.
Indigo Airlines currently operates a fleet of more than 80 A320ceo aircraft; that is both lease and owned. It also has an order for 280 aircraft’s that is separate from todays announcements. The order are for 100 A320ceo and 180 320neo. Along with today announcements Indigo Airlines now was more than 500 Airbus aircraft’s on order. Why so much you might ask? Indigo promise to have an average age fleet of no more than 6 years old. Once a plane reach that age mark Indigo then least those to other carriers. WHO IS INDIGO AIRLINES?
Indigo Airlines is owned and operated by InterGlobe Enterprise and was founded in 2006 by Rahul Bhatia of InterGlobe Enterprises and Rakesh S Gangwal of NRI. InterGlobe holds 51.12% stake in IndiGo and 48% is held by Gangwal’s Virginia-based company Caelum Investments
The airline commenced operation in 2006 and haven’t look back since; having more than 84 aircrafts in its fleet and more than 500 on order as of October 15 2014; the airline has became the only airline in India today that has been making profits.
