Airbus this past week officially rolled out, Qatar Airways first A350 XWB (Xtra Wide Body) aircraft; the aircraft painted in full Qatar Livery; with the registration A7-ALA also made it’s first flight on October 15 2014. A7-ALA has already made various significant milestone for the A350 XWB Program; and will continue to make milestone.
So far the aircraft has became:
- The first XWB variant to be configured in full passenger layout.
- The first XWB variant be painted in full A350 XWB customer livery.
- Will be the first XWB variant to be delivered to a A350 XWB customer (Qatar Airways December)
Although the aircraft looks ready on the outside; it is far from ready on the inside. The aircraft still has more testing to be done; along with a cabin overhaul, before being delivered to Qatar Airways.
Qatar, the launching airline for the A350 XWB program; has order 80 aircrafts; split between 43 A350-900 variant, 37 A350-1000, the biggest of the A350 XWB order, at the moment Qatar is the largest operator of the A350 XWB aircraft. Deliveries are planned for later on this December 2014. After a series of training flights at Qatar; the airline planned to deploy the long haul aircraft on the Doha – Frankfurt route. As of September 2014, the A350 XWB program had won 750 orders from 39 customers worldwide.
